The mission of the EMT-B program is to instruct and prepare a student to the level of the Emergency Medical Technician-Basic in order to serve as a vital link in the chain of the healthcare team.

Since it is recognized that the majority of prehospital emergency medical care will be provided by the EMT-Basic, the program intends to provide all of the skills necessary for the individual to provide emergency medical care at a basic life support level with an ambulance service or other specialized service.
