To be eligible to attend the Emergency Medical Technical Basic training course, you must:
  • Be proficient in reading, writing and speaking the English language in order to clearly communicate with a patient, family or bystander to determine a chief complaint, nature of illness, mechanism of injury or to assess signs and symptoms

  • Hold a current certification in an approved Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (Healthcare Provider CPR or Professional Rescuer)

  • Be at least 18 years of age

  • Be free from addiction to alcohol or any drug

  • Be able to lift and carry 125 pounds

  • Be free from any physical or mental defect or disease which might impair you to provide emergency care within the scope of the EMT’s training and responsibilities which might jeopardize the health of another member of the class.
